Recording with the University of Westminster

In March, 2020, I took a trip to the University of Westminster to meet with Jeremy Mortimer, director and producer of radio with the BBC, and a group of students from the University, to record my pilot episode of my radio series Distance Over Time.

In January 2020, my full radio series, Car Crash Girl, to which this episode belongs, won the Snoo Wilson Writing Prize, awarded at The Garage Theatre in Norwich.

The recording is now in post-production.

Thank you to the students of Westminster University for being so welcoming, and for showing such love for my script.

Courage Festival 2018: Monologue.

In 2020, I had the opportunity to write for the Courage Arts Festival, as a playwright. Courageous Conversations is a series of monologues that use real-life personal statements from UEA PhD students to form a narrative. This is the first in a series of four, all of which were originally performed during the Courage Festival in September 2019. The sources for these monologues are all anonymous; in publicizing them we hope to draw further attention to the difficulties and troubles faced by postgraduate researchers as they navigate academic spaces. This monologue was adapted from interviews by myself. It can be found at the link below:

The 2019 Playwriting Project.

In 2019, I worked as a Guest Playwright and Creative Writing Tutor for two months with the FLY Playwriting Project. As part of the project, I went into Springwood High School to teach playwriting lessons to Year 8-10 kids, with the aim of producing a script together to be performed at the FLY Festival, staged at the UEA Drama Studio.

Our murder-mystery-come-comedy was a hit with the audience! It was great to see the children’s smiling faces when they were able to show off to their parents and friends that they had written an actual play that had been staged!

Thank you to the FLY Playwriting Festival and Laughing Mirror Theatre Company for your efforts towards bringing the arts to young people in East Anglia.
